Description

"Nothing but Granite Volume 2" takes you into the interior of the massif, up into the deep side valleys that branch off from the valleys in Bergell and around Chiavenna. The second edition is published eight years after the first edition and has been expanded to include two valleys - the Val del Forno and the Val Schiesone, both of which are somewhat remote but still very interesting. In addition, the descriptive section has been made more detailed, especially with regard to approaches, descents and the course of the routes. All drawings have been revised and large-format panoramic photos have been added. Many new features await the climber, from the climbing gardens at the Forno, Sciora and Sasc Furä huts to the fantastic modern routes on the Spazzacaldera, Badile and Ferro da Stiro - just to name a few. This area has always been a destination for generations of alpinists, from the beginnings of alpinism to the present day. Famous and celebrated walls and ridges - such as the classic north-east of the Badile - have seen climbers from all over the world pass by, but more remote walls such as the north-west of the Sfinge or the somewhat gloomy Pizzo di Prata have also found their enthusiasts. All that remains is the agony of choice between an almost infinite number of routes that promise plenty of climbing fun and fantastic rock in this vertical paradise.

About the author:

Mario Sertori has been a mountain guide since 1991. His vertical career began right here, on the rough rock of the mountains described. However, he is not only a climber, but also an enthusiastic writer. Many of his adventures have been published in specialist journals. In 2004, he published "Cascate - Lombardia e Svizzera" for Blu Edizioni and with Versante Sud he published "Nothing but Granite (with Guido Lisignoli) in 2007, "Alpine Ice - The 600 most beautiful icefalls in the Alps" in 2009, "Swiss Ice - Icefalls in Ticino and Graubünden" in 2012, "Val di Mello" in 2014 and the new edition of "Nothing but Granite Volume 1 - Valleys of Masino and Monte Disgrazia".

Mario Sertori | Versante Sud | 2nd edition 2015 | 288 pages | language: German
